Tapan Bhattacharya was born in the holy city of Benares, on the banks of the Ganges, where he studied tabla with the renowned Master Late Pandit Kavira Ashutosh Bhattacharya and under the brilliant guidance of the prestigious Master Pandit Shankar Ghosh. He obtained a Master of Music degree from the University of Allahabad.

TAPAN BHATTACHARYA. Tabla (Barcelona)
A tabla player born in the holy city of Varanasi, on the banks of the Ganges. He began his musical training under the brilliant guidance of Master Pandit Ashutosh Bhattacharya, a direct disciple of Master Late Pandit Kanthe Maharaj. He perfected his learning with Late Pandit Shankar Ghosh (recognised as one of the most prestigious tabla masters of today).
Based in Spain since 1990, Tapan is primarily responsible for promoting classical Indian music and dance in our country, inviting renowned artists and new talents to perform.
He is currently the director and teacher at Tapan Musical Centre, a centre dedicated to promoting Indian musical culture, where you can also purchase high-quality traditional Indian instruments. Director of the Tapangroup project since 1990
– He composed and performed excerpts from the music for the play A Un Somni, directed by Catalina Buzoianu and presented at the Sitges International Theatre Festival (1998).
– He directed the World Music Section at the Teatreneu in Barcelona in 1999 and 2000.
– He directed, coordinated and performed in the Indian music section at the 2nd edition of the Etnimálaga Festival in 2001.

Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (mohan vina); Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya (santoor); Pt. Ronu Majundar (bansuri); Late S.G. Sachdev (bansuri).
He has also successfully integrated himself into contemporary Western music, performing with different artists and adding an ethnic flavour through the sounds of the tabla.
